چکیده
The first 50 consecutive patients undergoing mitral commissurotomy approximately 412 to 7 years ago have been subjected to a detailed analysis in an attempt to ascertain their present subjective and objective status. Operative mortality was 6 per cent and late mortality was 12 per cent. Forty-one patients (82 per cent) are living and have formed the basis for conclusions. After a comprehensive study of each living patient, including an appraisal of the patient's subjectively reported clinical state, as well as a correlation of the clinical findings, electrocardiographic tracings, teleroentgenograms, and catheterization data, we conclude that 29 patients (71 per cent of those living or 58 per cent of the original 50) are in better condition and living a more nearly normal life than they were prior to surgery.

متن کاملSHORT TERM CLINICAL OUTCOME OF PERCUTANEOUS BALLOON MITRAL VALVULOPLASTY VERSUS SURGICAL CLOSED MITRAL COMMISSUROTOMY
BaIlon mitral valvuloplasty and closed mitral valve conunissurotomy were performed in 450 and 127 patients, respectively. Also, 254 patients with severe mitral stenosis were enrolled in a prospective randomized trial comparing the two procedures. Immediately after balloon mitral valvuloplasty, mean left atrial pressure was 11.38±3.54 mmHg, transmitral valve gradient was 1.8±2 mmHg, and mit...
متن کاملThe Association between B-type Natriuretic Peptide Family and Successful Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy: A Systematic Review
B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) level is known to increase in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis. In this systematic review, we aimed to discuss the possible association between plasma BNP level and the success rate of percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy. PubMed and Scopus databases were searched systematically, using the following key terms: “B-type natriuretic peptide” OR “BN...

متن کاملReinterventions after percutaneous mitral commissurotomy during long-term follow-up, up to 20 years: the role of repeat percutaneous mitral commissurotomy.
AIMS We analysed reinterventions performed during long-term follow-up after percutaneous mitral commissurotomy (PMC) with a particular focus on freedom from mitral surgery and late results of repeat PMC. METHODS AND RESULTS In 912 patients who had good immediate results of PMC (valve area ≥1.5 cm² with mitral regurgitation ≤2/4), we analysed survival without reintervention (surgery or repeat ...
